Aid for Ukraine now also in Deventer

Also in Deventer aid goods can be brought for Ukraine. This can be done at the reception of ACT on the third floor. IBS student Taras Gnelytsia and Illya Brodovskyi (ICT) have set up a room nearby (D3.26). They will give a presentation about their country on Wednesday.

For Taras (18), the relief effort is a good way to get his mind off things. The first two days of the invasion left him quite upset, he says. "But I'm not going to sit by and watch. It doesn't help anyone if I'm apathetic. I'm just getting back to studying and doing this on the side."

Contact with family and friends is constant for Taras. They live in a town about 100 kilometers from Kiev. It is relatively quiet, he says. "It's not like the cities that are under attack now. But even at home they notice the war. Just this morning the school was bombed."

Taras wants to raise awareness for the situation. That's why he's giving a presentation on his country's culture and history at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. "This is what we can do," he says. "We have to stay positive and strong, so that in the end we come out victorious."
