Give the Ukrainian Saxion students the opportunity to study here in the coming academic year. With this motto SaxNow starts the action 'Saxion for Ukraine'. Goal: together we raise money, to make it possible for each of the 72 students to pay their tuition fees for next year. This is not possible without you. Whether you are a student, employee or alumnus: donate or - maybe even better - come into action. Organize something fun to raise money. We will happily report on that.
The need is high among Ukrainian students. The war brings numerous worries and one of them is: how will I pay my tuition for next academic year. As 19-year-old Ruslana Bosakevych (Fashion & Textile Technologies) said to SaxNow, "How will I pay tuition in June/July? I really have no idea".
There already was some good news; Saxion revealed yesterday that Ukrainian students will not pay the high institutional tuition rate next year, but the statutory tuition rate. Saxion will compensate for the difference.
But we want to do more; we want to lift that whole financial worry off the shoulders of our Ukrainian students. And we don’t want to do that alone, but together with you.
We think Saxion is a close-knit community, a family almost. And what does a family do when someone gets into trouble without being at fault? It comes to the rescue. And that is exactly what SaxNow wants to encourage and support.
If everyone donates one special beer, the action has succeeded
We hope that your department, your study association or your group of friends will take action. Organize a bingo evening or charity run, collect money, sell handmade bracelets, hold a Tupperware party.... Everything is possible. You can also donate a (small) amount, let's say the value of one beer. Because that's what it comes down to. If everyone at Saxion puts in 5 euros, the action will have succeeded.
Because the Ukrainian students need our help. Since the start of the war in February, they are in great uncertainty, with numerous worries. One of them is tuition fees.
We need almost 160 thousand euros. With that, the 72 students will be able to register for the new college year without any worries. And this is not only good for the students. Allowing these talented young people to continue their studies is good for the region, and good for Ukraine itself. The country needs educated people after the war to rebuild the country.
In Action
With the benefit Saxion for Ukraine we hope that the Saxion community will take action for the affected students. So students, teachers, employees and alumni. But also the business community around Saxion.
SaxNow is the driving force, reports and ensures that the money reaches the students. And we will organize a number of actions ourselves. We are still thinking about that, but you will certainly see us in the buildings and on the squares, at Saxion Borrelt and Summer Vibes. And of course there will be a closing event before the end of the academic year. Then we will hand over the amount we raised together to the 72 students.

How can you donate/contribute?
The benefit 'Saxion for Ukraine' has been set up by SaxNow. The Executive Board of Saxion supports the idea to take care of the Ukrainian students in this way. We want to raise money with the entire Saxion community, so the students can register for the coming academic year without any worries. For this we organize a number of things ourselves, but we also hope that students, employees, friend groups, alumni and the business community will take action. Of course we will pay attention to that.
Would you like to donate money, or have you raised an amount for the Ukrainian students? There is a special bank account for this: NL59 RABO 0317 2594 15, in the name of Stichting Saxion, stating SaxNow for Ukraine.
At the end of the academic year we will hand over the amount to the 72 students. Every cent is for them. Still have questions? Read more about the action in this FAQ. You can also send an e-mail to [email protected]
