Get sponsored to run or walk around a Saxion building for the benefit Saxion for Ukraine. That is the idea of Jan-Chris Hullegie (ACT) and Janine Schoeman (GreenOffice). On Thursday, June 30, this will happen on the square Ko Wierenga, and the following week, Tuesday, July 5, on the parking lot in Deventer. The initiators hope for as many participants as possible (and proceeds for the 72 Ukrainian students).
Jan-Chris Hullegie is involved with the Ukrainian students. Previously, he was behind the action 'Make bags not war', which raised over 1,100 euros. Now he is organizing a sponsor run together with the GreenOffice and SaxNow. Employees, students and people from outside Saxion can register for the event.
The idea is simple: you sign up for the sponsored run in advance and the participant then receives a form that you can use to have friends, family, acquaintances, neighbors, or whoever, to get you sponsored.
The organization makes it as easy and accessible as possible: you can get sponsored per lap (Enschede: 0.65km, Deventer 0.50km), with or without a maximum amount, or you can get a donation for a fixed amount. After the run, you collect the money and transfer it to Saxion for Ukraine via the QR code or the bank.
Do you have to be a practiced runner with ditto gear?
"Well no," says Hullegie. "It's about the charity and community spirit we show. Whether you run competitively, or walk - it doesn't matter. We'll make it two fun afternoons and, if all goes well, raise a nice amount of money for our 72 Ukrainian students."
